About

Teresa Capalbo grew up in Wethersfield, CT. She attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield before heading out to Michigan where she attended Thomas Cooley Law School; now part of Western Michigan School of Law. After a wonderful experience in the mid-west Teresa returned to Wethersfield for an internship. Immediately after passing the bar she was hired by the same office and began working as an associate attorney with the law firm of Kenny, Brimmer & Mahoney, LLC. After over 12 years with KB&M, the last five of which she sat as Partner, Ms. Capalbo started Capalbo Hourihan, LLC in 2021.

Ms. Capalbo has spent over a decade representing clients in various matters including personal injury, workers’ compensation, estate planning, probate, and contested probate matters, real estate, business formation, collections, to name a few. Ms. Capalbo had represented clients from an insurance defense perspective as well which has helped shape her knowledge of ‘how they think.’

Ms. Capalbo has tried a number of cases to completion both in Superior and Probate Courts. Over the years Ms. Capalbo has gained positive results for hundreds of injured and wronged clients. After a lengthy mediation, Ms. Capalbo successfully obtained a $930,000 settlement on behalf of an injured client. Ms. Capalbo has also sat second chair for a number of civil and probate matters, and was also second chair through trial and appeal in the case of Luster v. Luster, which confirmed the right of a conserved person to maintain a divorce.

For nearly 10 years Ms. Capalbo has also had the honor of working with some of our U.S. military through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs with appointments as both Federal Fiduciary and Conservator of Person and Estate. Ms. Capalbo continues to act in those positions for military and non-military members in our Probate Court system.

Being part of the local community has always been important, as is the phrase - go far in life but do not forget where you came from. The daughter of Italian immigrants, Ms. Capalbo continues to respect her Italian heritage and supports the Italian community serving on the Board of the local chapter of UNICO National.

Thanks to her knowledge of the Italian language and her wonderful staff, she is able to service a number of Spanish speaking clients as well.
